We meet construction manager Roy Vidar Pedersen at DVS Entreprenør on the total renovation project of 142 terraced houses in Åneby in Nittedal. Roy Vidar is construction manager and principally responsible for HSEQ and operations on the construction site.
There is a lot of work to be done at Bliksrud Borettslag. The assignment consists, among other things, of additional insulation and new cladding of approx. 16,500 m² facades, upgrading of approx. 10,000 m² roof, replacement of approx. 1,250 windows and doors and upgrade/construction of 110 balconies.
– The geographical area is quite large and challenging, especially in times like this with a lot of snow. Good planning and good experience come in very handy now, says Roy Vidar.
The project is scheduled to be completed in autumn 2023.
In addition to good planning and an experienced workforce, the construction manager has full control over hours, crews and HSEQ with the help of a digital system.

A digital diary
To gain full control of the project, Construction Manager Roy Vidar uses SmartDok, a digital documentation system for the building and construction industry.
– It is a very useful tool for us in everyday life.
– We use it both for registration, HSEQ, time registration and daily comments from workers outside. In a way, it will be a digital diary, says Roy Vidar.
As a Construction Manager and HSEQ Manager, it is desirable to receive data on what has been done at all times.
– Now our employees feed us what is being carried out. This is done in the form of pictures and comments. It is very clear for me and the project manager, and not least easy to find.
Documents before and after
When the workers at DVS Entreprenør are inside and doing a job, they document everything on checklists. They take before-and-after photos of what is being done and send them in to the construction manager and project manager.
– It simplifies the day in all respects, and the use only increases and increases. It has helped us a lot!
– It is extremely nice to have this documentation in place, and that the workers are good at using it. It is both our security and the customer’s security, and not least it leads to fewer disputes between customer and supplier.
– It may sound like I’m bragging a lot about it, but I think it’s good. It is so clear when you learn to use it, and not least that you get the project page which is limited to your area. You sort of have your working day there. Then it’s just a matter of getting people to enter the information you need, adds Roy Vidar.
Digitization – an investment in the future!

Crew lists on mobile
As mentioned earlier, DVS Entreprenør has a strong focus on HSEQ, and it is good HSEQ to have an overview of who is on the construction site at all times.
– Before we used the building card reader for SmartDok, but now we largely only use the app for SmartDok to log in and out of the project. It feels both easier and faster than a physical reader, says Morten.
– For a construction manager, this is a good tool!
There is no doubt that the residents of Bliksrud Borettslag can feel confident that the total rehabilitation of the homes will be delivered of high quality and in a safe manner, like all other projects DVS Entreprenør is responsible for.
