Bygg og Anlegg Kompetanse AS - Lothepus Camping

Bygg og Anlegg Kompetanse AS is in the process of realizing the dream project of Leif Einar Lothe.

Will Lothepus manage to use SmartDok?

We have visited the company Bygg og Anlegg Kompetanse AS at the giant project in Odda where, among other things, Lothepus is in the midst of realizing its giant project. In the barracks on the construction site, general manager Inger Mari Raaen sits and welcomes us. She can tell that this has been something Leif Einar has long dreamed of building.

– Today, Leif Einar Lothe already runs a popular mobile home camp in Odda, and he is also very interested in the historical. What happened before Odda became industrial, she says.

– He has always had a strong interest in stave churches and stories about the old knights. The desire to build a stave church has always been there, a dream and a vision he has now managed to start realizing.

Now the company is in the process of building a stave church, longhouse, facilities house, staff house, 12 cabins and mobile home parking!

Inger Mari is proud to be involved in the project, which she believes will have major ripple effects.

– The facility is large, and it is incredibly exciting to be involved in this. It will give a lot back to the local community in both the form of jobs, and a major attraction for tourism, which in turn will generate jobs throughout Ullensvang.

– Once you’ve got the tourists in, then put things in place so that more people can create jobs and offer other experiences, she says.

The opening of the camp is planned for May 2024. The cabins will come after that.

Strives for lasting competitive advantage

Bygg og Anlegg Kompetanse AS started up as a carpentry company at the end of 2020, and currently has 9 employees. The company has three owners, Inger Mari Raaen, Martin Heggøy and Leif Einar Lothe.

– The company has had very good growth and now offers several services in several specialist areas, which also includes arranging courses particularly aimed at the construction industry.

– The three of us have good execution power and have many of the same values, which is probably the main reason why it works so well between us, she says.

Why are you a preferred company?

– We want to strive for lasting competitive advantages by having a modern way of thinking and approach. We believe we have the ability to see changes and trends, and positively adapt to tomorrow’s conditions.

Today, the company and its subcontractors carry out the following assignments: Carpentry/carpentry services, wet rooms/tiling, membrane work, masonry/pipes and fireplaces, painting, concrete work, asbestos removal/environmental remediation, appraisal/appraiser, house drawing, building applications and building matters, building site rental and building control, engineering and calculation/engineering services, environmental mapping. Course; hot work, asbestos remediation, scaffolding and wet room courses.

And now the gigantic project in Odda. At its busiest, there will be around 70-80 workers on the construction site.

Lothepus is ready for HSE in the mobile phone.

Leif Einar Lothe found himself scratching his beard when he received instruction in SmartDok’s HSEQ app.
Lothe is an analog man, but does not ignore the fact that he has to get “this damn app”.
You can see if he succeeds in the next season of Camp Lothepus.

Focus on HSE and quality assurance

For Inger Mari, it is important that the company takes HSEQ and quality assurance very seriously. To improve these processes, the company has acquired a digital HSEQ system.

– SmartDok was put into use due to the requirement for an electronic crew list on the construction site, at the same time to be able to streamline and have good control in everyday life with all the documentation required in HSEQ, she says.

– I have come across several HSEQ programmes, but so far this is really the best!

Have used SmartDok since Nokia was on top

Daniel Venaas has been a machine operator for 15 years, and remembers well the time he got SmartDok on his Nokia phone.

From keypad to smartphone

Daniel Venaas is a machine operator on the construction site, and has been using SmartDok since it was possible to get Nokia keypads. He remembers using a Nokia 6300 as his last touch-tone phone.

– I remember the time we got SmartDok on the Nokia. Even then it was experienced as something completely new, he says.

– There was a bit more searching in the menu and a lot of typing, but we managed to register hours and forms then too!

Today, Daniel uses SmartDok on his iPhone, and finds it very user-friendly.

– It is very easy to use the SmartDok app today. Here I record hours, SJA, RUH and deviations. In addition, I use Geofence to register in and out of the building site via the app.

Daniel thinks it is great to be able to help build this project in Odda.

– This is an exciting project. Here, there is a lot happening all the time and it is moving forward quickly, and we see changes on the construction site from day to day.

Terje Espe at the construction site

Terje Espe thought the SmartDok app was easy to use, and thought it was nice to have HSE/HS on the mobile.

Will Lothepus manage the app?

Leif Einar Lothe also got to try his hand at the app and followed closely during SmartDok’s presentation. Here we are talking about an analog man with a big heart for work, but who struggles a bit with using his apps on the phone. He uses his smartphone only for SMS and phone calls. If he is to get SmartDok on the phone at all, he must first of all get it connected to the internet. Which could turn out to be a fun session.

During the training with SmartDok in the construction barracks, there was a lot of laughter and funny questions from Lothepus, and SmartDok’s representative really got himself a challenge. Maybe you will get the answer how it went in the next season of Camp Lothepus?

Responsible for the design itself

Martin Heggøy and Øyvind Andersson show us how it will look when everything is finished. In addition, we get to see the first sketches that were drawn according to the thoughts from Lothepus. Martin holds out some hand-drawn ideas which are then turned into advanced computer models, and which will eventually end up in a fantastic project in the middle of Odda.

– It’s quite a project! What began as a drawing of a stave church ended up with a gigantic project with cabins, longhouses, staff houses and facility buildings, says Martin.

He then shows us some pictures of the cabins that are planned. A kind of crossover of a Norwegian cabin and a hobbit house. Tough.

– We have full control over the entire process. From drawing to execution of the project, says Martin.

We look forward to seeing the project completed. We believe that the whole of Odda and Western Norway do as well.
